In many conditions, a victim needs to be rescued within 30 minutes, and the ALERT2 Man-Overboard Alarm System will greatly improve chances of a successful search and rescue.

The ALERT2 Man-Overboard Transmitter is not an EPIRB (Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon). An EPIRM’s function is to send a beacon to a Search and Rescue (SAR) satellite, which then sends the signal to initiate a rescue operation. EPIRB’s are very handy when your vessel is sinking or lost and the EPIRM helps identify the location for the rescue team. The soonest a rescue could be launched would be 30 minutes. In Man-Overboard situations, seconds count, minutes could be disastrous. ALERT2 is not a replacement for an EPIRB, but depending on your circumstance, the ALERT2 should be the life-saving device you should invest in.
